CONSERVATION OF “THE PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN”
Easel painting on linen canvas with depiction of a woman, 1938, oil on canvas.
The restoration was carried out during academic classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in 2015.
Starting condition.
After cleaning and filling losses in the ground layer.
After the retouch.
Cleaning of the reverse using a Factis eraser.
Cleaning of the reverse using a scalpel.
Joining the tears in the painting’s canvas.
Pressing the glued areas using a cauter.
Application of an Acrylkleber 498 HV band around the entire painting and pressing it with a cauter through polyester foil.
Cleaning of the obverse.
